When it comes to advertising your cleaning business there are many ways to go about it. One of the best ways though is through the use of flyers. This article offers some tips on putting together flyers to promote your cleaning business and offers some ideas for their distribution.
While you can have a flyer designed professionally there is really no need for a small business to do so as there are many excellent flyer templates available online for free. This form of marketing will therefore only cost you some time and printing or photocopying costs.
Good Cleaning Business Flyer Design
1) Have a catchy headline or slogan as the title of the ad rather than your business name . Don't just put the name of your business or what it is that you do but rather let customers know what you can do for them and how you do it differently from all the other cleaners.
2) Include a strong call to action. Don't let customers file your flyer away for a rainy day. Give customers a strong incentive to take action and contact you right away by using special offers that expire within a short period of time. Make it easy for them to contact you and have you come around to their property for a free quote.
3) Use both sides of the flyer. Unless this will complicate the printing process you may as well use both sides of a flyer to get your message across. On the reverse side you can go into detail about the specific cleaning services that you offer or the specialized equipment that you have access to. One side can be clean and uncluttered while the other side can be more informative.
4) Professional with the correct information. Triple check your flyer to make sure that it is grammatically correct and that the contact details are right.
5) Consider distributing some kind of free gift with your flyers such as branded fridge magnets or pens that customers will notice and appreciate as something useful. This approach will add an extra cost to your campaign though.
Distributing your Flyers
1) Hand flyers out to your existing client base and ask them to pass them on to their friends and associates if they feel like you are doing a good job and they want to refer others to your cleaning services. Don't be pushy and just give them three or four at first and let them know that you would really appreciate it if they would make the effort.
2) While giving flyers to people in person is still the best way to do it, door to door (door handle hangers) deliveries can still work well. Just check with your local post office before you start as some areas now have ordinances prohibiting unsolicited mail.
3) Look for places that might let you hang up your flyer on the wall for free such as local businesses or community noticeboards.
4) Consider joint promotions with other local service businesses. Advertise two different business at the same time by having one featured on each side of the page. If both business put in the same distribution effort then this idea can double the effectiveness of a campaign.
5) Hit people with the same flyer again and again. It usually takes a person at least three or four views of an advertisement before the message sinks in. Run campaigns again and again using the same flyer rather than changing it too much if possible. On the contrary though, testing different ads is a good way to see which ones are working and which are not bringing in results so a good method is to always be using two variations of your flyer and to always try and improve on the winner.
You will hear many people say that flyers are no longer an effective advertising method and this may also be the case in your market. You should at least give this approach a trial though to see if it can work for your cleaning business. A campaign does not take a lot of effort and you you really only need to secure one or two new customers to make it cost effective.
Whatever you do, try to make your flyer the one that stands out and grabs the attention of the viewer. Flyers can work wonders for your cleaning business if you go about the process methodically and with an open mind.
