A logo is a graphic representation of the brand that creates an immediate impression on the minds of the customers. It helps to distinguish an organization's product from its competitor's product in the market. To design a logo is an outcome of rigorous study and creative ability. A logo designer can play with innovative and creative ideas to churn out a logo that best represents a company. However, a designer should not make a complex design, which might create confusion in the mind of a viewer. An organization's graphic symbol should be able to construct an optimistic, sturdy and lifelong idea on potential clientele. It means the very instant the customer thinks of a logo, the respective company should come in mind. Therefore, designing a logo is a task to handle with care.

There are few elements kept in mind when a designer designs an emblem of the company. A simple graphic registers in a person's mind soon as compared to a complex one. The design should not get crammed with alphabets and colors. It should be lucid so that it becomes easy for a viewer to remember the logo. The use of colors is another vital element in the design of the logo. Usage of colors in an intelligent manner leaves a visual impact on the mind of a viewer. Colors help to make the graphic more exquisite and remarkable. A viewer is able to absorb attractive pictorial details with ease as compared to textual details. The color should always coincide with the theme or reflect the nature of the business. For instance, if an organization sells ice creams, the color of the logo can have a light pink or any such tinge that represents the business of the company. One should not use more than two to three colors as this prevents from filling up the text and colors together in a graphic. It can lead to confusion for the viewer. A designer should use less number of colors that would save the cost of print. The logo used to print on company's stationary or corporate literature should have one or two spot colors that can save cost compared to printing a full color logo. The company's graphic emblem used in all sorts of communication materials like photocopied document and fax where there will be black and white ink. Therefore, the logo designed in a way so that it leaves the same impact even in black and white print. It is easier to reproduce a simple logo with fewer colors to any size for different purposes like printing on newsletters, etc.

A good logo should appear as a single unit and not a jumble of elements pasted together. It can play a major role in enhancing the visibility of an enterprise.
