As famed economic forecaster Harry Dent calls it; "The Great Shake Out."
Shake Outs occur on all levels; small, medium and large businesses are all effected. And the martial arts business industry is sometimes hit really hard...
How many martial arts schools have closed in your area? How many mom and pop shops have packed it in? Then- you can't help but see what has happened with GM and Chrysler, right?
It's all a shake out! But here's the good news...
In every shake out period the businesses that are savvy enough to recognize what's going on and leverage the shake out end up being the leaders for years to come!
I want YOU to be one of those leaders!
So here are 4 simple tips to grow in "The Great Shake Out!"
1) New Ideas applied to Old Principles-
Principles never change- but strategies and ideas must constantly be worked on. Here's an example. How many times have you heard that you should do birthday parties for your school? Tons- right! Well- Did you know that there are ways to Really get tons of new students from birthday parties? There are. One simple way is to do them for free. One thing we know is that none of your students will celebrate their birthday alone. They'll bring a ton of friends. Then all you have to do is follow a proven formula and you'll turn thier guests into students. And the good news is that correct formulas and new twists apply to every marketing tactic.
The lesson- you need to constantly test new twists, turns and ideas on old principles!
2) Get Back to Basics- Some gurus in the industry seem to forget history sometimes. The Martial Arts Business has and always will be a business centered around YOU - the owner of the school. Yes- of course you can have all kinds of systems that run your school (I know because I have created and used a ton of them). But the people behind the system and how they (or you) interact with your students and clients is the glue that holds it all together.
3) Timely Information- It's no longer about "information" it's about timely information. There's plenty of "how to" out there. And if you are new to the martial arts business of course you need how to information. But if you've been paying attention for any period of time and you've got the basics of running your martial arts business down then you must seek out "timely information." Basically, timely information is made up of tools you can use in your business, this week, this month and right away.
4) Move Fast- and take Action!
I hope you'll take a minute to think about what you can do to grow your martial arts business in the shake out!
