Jogging is a form of trotting along or running at a slow or unhurried pace. The main difference between running and jogging is speed. Jogging means running slower than 6 miles per an hour.

The main benefit of this sport is to increase fitness with less stress on the body that faster running gives. In fact the fast running requires a good grounding and fitness, therefore everyone can try jogging.

The terms to jog and jogging as a form of sport, originated in England in the 17th century. In the United States jogging bore the name "roadwork" and was suggested to be a part of training lessons. Athletes in training (boxers, watermen, swimmers, weight-lifters) ran several miles each day as part of their conditioning. The word "jogging" came into being in New Zealand at the 1960s or 1970s when the word "roadwork" was mostly displaced by the word "jogging".

The idea of jogging as an independent sport was proponed in a sports page article in the New Zealand Herald in February 1962. The article was about a group of athletes and fitness enthusiasts who met to run for fitness and health improvement once a week. The club was called the Auckland Joggers Club.

You shouldn't be an experienced athlete to start jogging. Start it when you wish and where you wish. The only possible advice: be properly prepared for the weather. Jogging in point of fact is a summer sport. If you want your workouts to be safe and comfortable, think about headdress, cotton clothes, if necessary. You'll avoid heat-related illnesses and bug bites, running in the summer.

As a rule, people who like jogging, try to find time to complete their long runs. They make usual runs every day or two-three times a week, and organize long runs from time to time. The rush of city life and other events sometimes make it difficult for runners to do their long runs even at the weekends. Some people solve the problem by splitting up the mileage, running some miles in the morning before work and then some later in the evening. To tell the truth splitting up your long run is a great way to fit your long run into a busy week.

It's also the best solution for dealing with high heat and wetness in the summer because you prefer time with cooler temperatures in the morning and evening. And then you should remember that splitting is very good for beginners. You must admit that it's definitely easier to run 5 miles in the morning and 5 miles at night, rather than 10 at once.
