Commonly people pay less attention to bathrooms when adding interior lighting to their houses. Most of the baths have inadequate lights. Most often there is just a single ceiling light fulfilling all lighting needs of bath. But practices have been changed now and bathrooms have become the place to relax and recharge you with steam shower and spa tub. This emerges need to do some more for these areas.


Types of Bathroom Lights

Now days several types of bathroom lights are available to illuminate and emphasize specific areas of bathroom. They are installed in a series of layers to create so that most comfortable and warm look in bathroom. Initially a large fluorescent bulb on ceiling is used for whole bathroom. It is affordable and functional to do but it does not give attractive look. Manufacturers offered down toned and dull bathroom lights in number of eye catching styles. Shower lights

They are round, flat fixtures especially designed for tubs, saunas and shower areas. Due to waterproof bulbs and casing they can be installed very near to shower head and even under water. They are marketed with labels jet proof, splash proof and shower proof indicating the standard of quality.


Down lights

They are small, low voltage bulbs that are buried into surfaces. It can be rotated to various angles like spot lights. Usually they are installed in rows on ceiling, cabinet hoods and bottoms. You can use dimmers to set intensity of brightness according to your mood.


LED lights

They are available in many colors such as red, green, blue and white. It is good to use for small applications and recessed fittings such as step lights, down lights, under water lights. White color can be used as spot lighting and it is also power efficient.


Spot lights

They are available in pair of two or three attached on same plate or bar. They are adjustable by rotating it to various areas. It is best to use in large bathrooms with limited overhead wiring.


Modern lighting

This is simple with minimum designs but available in number of materials with diverse finish. Disc lights, wall sconces, shell shaped domes, pyramids and cylinders are some examples.


Flush fitting ceiling lights

Such fixtures installed on the bases projecting from ceiling and spread light in all directions. Bulbs are enclosed in frosted globe shells to give soft and diffused blush. Globes are available with diameters of 6, 8, and 10.75 inches.


Wall lights

They are installed with metal brackets on walls and best for small bathrooms. They don't utilize floor and counter top area. They are available in different designs from plain and traditional globe designs to smooth designer models.


Lighting pendants

They are suspended from the base on ceiling with rod or flex connection. They are available in wood and brass designs. Steel and glass models are also available for modern washrooms.


Lighting brackets

They are available in traditional designs. It consists of molded back plate and large globe bulb. It is installed with dimmer to set the brightness according to mood. Globe is available in 6 and 8 inches diameter.
