Right now, the 9-5 corporate culture is very unstable and unreliable. Would you agree?

For instance, the perfect applicant for a job may be hired today only to lose his position within three months due to budget cuts, buyouts, or company mergers. In addition this same person who was excited about their job complete with health and dental benefits, a 401 K plan, and a very comfortable salary finds himself, yet in another slump because he depended on corporate America to help fund his lavish lifestyle.

In fact, this current recession has left many people unemployed and clueless as to how they'll make the house payment, pay their car note, or put food on the table.

Does this sound like you? If so, don't lose heart.

Instead, focus on your the abilities and resources you currently possess in order to make a change in your current financial situation.

With this in mind, what can you do while you wait for things to turn around in the job market?

You can start your own business. It's not as complicated as you think. Let's face it-you've always wanted to become your own boss anyway, right? This is your time. While you may not know where to begin, if you have a clear vision (a goal), the necessary experience, (whether work or personal), the proper knowledge, and tenacity, you can create a successful business idea.

Below you'll find five easy ways to help you begin:

1) Write a list of 25 or more assets you possess. Internet marketing guru, Jim Edwards, suggests that each person should write down 25 resources in your possession that will help you with your business. (Examples include: a computer, your education, influential people in your life, your successes, and even your failures.)

2) Discover your life's passion. Think about what motivates you, what excites you, and what angers you enough to take action. Think about what you would do if you didn't get paid for doing it.

3) Purchase an idea journal. A lot of times, we get "bright ideas" and then we lose them because we never wrote them down. Keep your journal with you at all times so you can record your ideas immediately.

4) Determine your target group. What is a target group? It's the group of people who will use and benefit from the products or services you offer. Listen to what people are saying and find out about their problems. Learn about people's needs so you can use your business to solve their problems. Check out discussion forums and chat rooms to see what questions people in your target group are asking. If the product or service you have can help them do one or more of the following things, you will quickly gain headway in starting your business:

a) Save money

b) Save time

c) Avoid effort

d) Avoid pain

e) Make money

5) Do your research. Go to the Internet. Since you don't want to duplicate what someone is already doing, find out what your competitors are doing and "tweak" their idea. In this way, you can ultimately meet the needs of your target group in a different way and ultimately bring them satisfaction.

While you may not know every detail, you can start your business by evaluating your passions, finding people's needs, and learning about your competition. Now get out there and just do it!
