During the early 90's the world was introduced to a new style of combat sport called Mixed Martial Arts A.K.A MMA.  It was originally started with many smaller organizations but made famous by the Ultimate Fighter Championships (UFC). MMA as a sport was driven by the idea of putting fighters of all different styles against each other to see which was superior.  As time passed MMA competition evolved as more rules were implemented for the safety of the fighters and to gain a wider acceptance with the main stream media.


Although the sport of MMA might be a relatively new phenomenon, the idea of training in multiple styles of combat is not.  Many pioneers of combat as we know it like Grand Masters Bruce Lee and Joe Lewis were the gatekeepers to the idea of MMA training and competition during the 60's and 70's, well before popular fighters of today.  They combined multiple styles to make one well rounded style of combat, including kickboxing like we offer in Kernersville.


People who practice MMA feel and look healthier.  Many groups are also finding MMA training to produce benefits far great than physical strength.  Churches and schools across the United States are implementing MMA programs for their youth; the organizations are seeing that the discipline involved in training produces self control and a great work ethic.

Many studies show that training in these arts can reduce stress and improve mental stability in people of all ages, especially those who struggle with anger management and ADHD.  The training provides a way for those frustrated feelings of anger and pure energy to be expressed in a positive way.
